A Pioneer American Design for The Gowns
The wedding of Miss Marianne
McGrew and Frank Lee Kidd was
an event of Dec. 18 in the Second
Baptist Church with Dr. James
S. Riley officiating. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Finley McGrew, 4918 Holly. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Enoch Kidd of Conroe.
Christmas greens of holly and
pine decorated the church for the
ceremony. The bride chose an
ivory silk organza gown overlaid
on taffeta. Re-embroidered Alen-
con lace framed the rounded neck-
line and sleeves. The honor atten-
dants were Mrs. Charles H. Har-
ris in, the bride’s sister of Mex-
ico City; Miss Millie Grice, Miss
Patti Oehlberg and Mrs. Kenneth
Nibling.
The attendants wore gowns of
cranberry red velvet with match-
ing headpieces. Thev carried bou-
quets of Christmas greens tied
with velvet bows.
W.A. Pennington was best man.
Groomsmen were Bill Farmer,
Jimmie L. Britt, M.B. Kidd Jr.,

Pat Lawson and Walter T. Hender-
son Jr. was solemnized in the
Sanctuary of The Bellaire Meth-
odist Church Nov. 26 with The
Rev. Don F. Pevy performing the
double ring ceremony.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn E. Lawson of 4910
Valerie, was attended by Mrs. Al-
lison Sanders, Jr., as matron of
honor, Mrs. Ralph Jansen and
Miss Mary Usury, bridesmaids.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. W.T. Henderson Sr. of
Odessa Tex. His best man was
Edward Prichard. Groomsmen
were Dewey Smith and Mike Child-
ress.
Little Fran Ferguson was flower
girl. Ushers were William Lawson,

An usual wedding motif of pion-
eer America was carried out in
the design of the gowns of the
bride and her attandants. The bri-
dal dress was of white heavy re-
embroidered lace with long sleeves
and a standing collar. A long
sleeveless coat of velvet, cut to a
deep V and clasped with an heir-
loom cameo, covered the gown,
which had a short train. Her cat-
hedral veil of illusion was caught
under a high coiffure of curls.
She carried a nosegay of white
roses and stephanotis.
The bridesmaid’s gowns were
long skirts of deep avocado vel-
vet, worn with silk blouses in a
pale avocado, and over them,
shawls of the velvet, banded in
Ecru lace. Cameos held the high
collar of the blouses. Each carried
a small old-fashioned wicker shop-
ping basket, filled with gold, or-
ange and bronze mums, wheat and
fall vegetables. The flower girl
was dressed similarly.
