For several years now, as the
week before Christmas arrives—
and with it, rain and at least one
sick child—I say to myself, “This
is it. This is the year I simply
cannot be ready in time!”
The unaddressed cards are
spread over the kitchen table; sev-
eral presents have yet to be bought
—only three are wrapped and under
the tree; the larder is empty, and
1 feel like socking the first person
who announces smugly that she
bought her presents on sale last
summer and mailed her cards on
Dec. 1. (Everyone knows at least
one well - organized, obnoxious
person like this.)

But every year a small miracle
occurs, and on the magic day
everything necessary has been ac-
complished, and I quickly forget
about the week’s worry and rush.
It will be the same again next
year.....I hope.
A Christmas luncheon at the
Lakeside Country Club highlight-
ed the week’s activities for six-
teen members of the Shenandoah
Garden Club and their guests.
The party was held Tuesday
morning, Dec. 14. Guests welcom-
ed to the annual affair were Mary
Epps, guest of Barbara Brown;
Marie Stubblefield and Mary Ellen
McMullin, guests of Euna Moore.
In the gorgeously decorated at-
mosphere of the club, garden club-
bers enjoyed a gift exchange,
Christmas toast and delicious
lunch. Thanks go to Gloria Kra-
use for making all the arrange-
ments with the club.
James Cabaniss family, 6034
Moonmist, will make their long
awaited move to Briargrove Park
sometimes during the holidays.
We are delighted for them, of
course, that they are moving into
a beautiful new home. But Patsy
and Jim were good neighbors and
active members of the community,
and we will surely miss them!
Shirley and Buddy Silberman
and youngsters Mark and Laurie
of 5935 Moonmist will spend the
holidays in Pittsburg, Pennsyl-
vania. They departed Saturday
morning on their journey.
The Silbermans lived in Pitts-
burg for two years and are really
anticipating visits with their many
friends there.
Sisters Schann Heard of 5803
Moonmist and Peggy Feist of 5935
High Star are delighted to have
their mother here for Christmas
this year. She lives in San Angelo.
Mrs. Carl Pitschmann, 5819
Moonmist, will have the welcomed
mat out Thursday for her mother,
brother and stepfather who are
driving in from Dallas to spend
Christmas with Rose, Carl and the
boys.
Carl’s father will also bepresent
at the festivities on Christmas Day.
A very welcome houseguest at
the W.N. Grivas residence, 5823
Hornwood, on Dec. 10 and 11 was
their son-in-law Bill Dube.
Mr. Dube was on his way home
to Seattle, Washington from a bus-
iness meeting in Miami, Florida
when he stopped in Houston for a
brief visit with the Grivas family.
This will be the 4th Christmas
Mr. and Mrs. Grivas have been
separated by hundreds of miles
from their daughter Joanne, Bill
and their two children, 5 year
old Diane and 4 year old Susan.
And Granny Mozelle declares that
she is planning a trip to Seattle
in the very near future!
Connie and Bonner Phillips, with
one year old Melanie, of 6035
Hornwood will take a week’s vaca-
tion and visit both sets of grand-
parents during the holidays.
The Bill Browns of 5818 Horn-
wood have been as busy as old
Santa this season.
Right now they are packing their
bags for a Thursday departure to
Searcy, Arkansas where they will
spend Christmas and New Year’s.
Saturday night the Browns doll-
ed up in tux and long gown to at-
tend the annual Christmas dance
of the Arabia Shrine Temple.
And on Wednesday morning, Dec.
8, Barbara was hostess to ten of-
ficers and excutive board members
of the Bellaire Home Demonstra-
tion Club.
Mrs. Jeannette Vezey, 5922 De-
Moss, entertained her pupils with
a Christmas Piano Party on Sat.,
Dec. 18.
Refreshments were served and
each student played a Christmas
selection and another selection.
Prizes were awarded for the best
performances, voted by the stu-
dents themselves.
The Shenandoah Signpost
"posts” a Christmas greeting for
each and every one of its loyal

eous and meaningful holiday ever
for you and your family. Merry
