Wonder what the organized
people do thisnitne of the year?
I really do know, because once
I was organized. We had our tree
purchased shortly after Thanks-
giving and managed to have it
dried out and dangerous long be-
fore Christmas.
Presents were wrapped and
under the tree weeks ahead of
opening date. Cookies and fruit
cakes got baked and Christmas
letters and cards were carefully
selected and written with long
thought for appropriateness.
Wonder if I will ever return
to this stage and if I will like it
better than the present “hope to
get it done on time” age we now
live.

Mr. and Mrs.Harold Alexander
are taking their time getting moved
iryo Meyerland. They have bought
the home belonging to the Joe
Mansfield family who are now
living in California. The Alexan-
ders will be moving into our area
from 117 Marrakech in Bellaire.
Another new family to Meyer-
land and already into their home
is that of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Frowe. Louise and Eugene have
purchased 4906 Imogene which
previously belonged to Wm. E.
Miller Jr. and family.
The Frowe family includes two
sons, ages 14 and 16, James
(Jimmy) and Robert (Bobby). They
have lived in West University and
England previous to this move
from a close apartment.
Meyerland Peggy Stein has
launched a career in the past
couple of weeks and invites her
friends to come by. She is now
spending most of the time at Peg-
gy's Poodle Parlor at 4821 Bis-
sonnet.
Colonel Louis E. Gross, of 8902
Sager Drive passed away a week
ago Tuesday night in a Houston

hospital. He is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Gladys Gross and a
daughter, both of Houston. Ser-
vices were here Friday with mili-
tary graveside service in Bren-
ham at the cementery.
Sumpathy goes also to Johnny
Goyen and family in the loss of
his mother, Mrs. Jennie Gilles-
pie Goyen. Councilman Goyen
was with his mother in Prince-
ton Junction, N. J, at the time of
' her death. They were on a visit
to her sister and she was re-
cuperating from a recent illness.
Mrs. Goyen was a third genera-
tion Houstonion. Funeral services
and burial were scheduled for Hou-
Many Meyerland residents who
have lived here more than a couple
of years will remember the Ben
Engel family who made their home
on Darnell. Well, they have been
gone for a while now and I was
wondering what had become of them
when I got word just the other day
of their whereabouts.
The address read; “Lookout”
Route 3, Box 432 Wayzata, Min-
nesota.
It is my understanding that
“Lookout1’ is of the 1885 vintage
and the Engels are taking it upon
themselves to restore the place.
It is on a lake and with the current
temperature in the range of 17
degrees below zero they have been
able to ice skate right close to
the house.
Meyerland Club members and fri
ends, the movie to be shown at
the club on December 19 is sche-
duled to be "Living Desert”. Don’t
