What a week this has been!
In the Pope household v/e ran
the gamut from bowling lessons
to baby showers, from coin club
to campaign coffees. Apparently
it was also a busy week for
many of our Shenandoah neigh-
bors, so on with the news.
A campout and fishing1 trip at
Sargent Beach weekend before
last provided three Shenandoah
boys with their most exciting
experience in Boy Scouting thus
far. Mike Cabaniss, Randy Rus-
sell and Mike Fry, out on their
first overnight camping trip,
proved that they are successful
campers and mighty good fish-
ermen. Not only did they catch
a mess of fish—even better, they
learned how to clean them.

A coffee on Wednesday even-
ing, Sept. 23 in the home of
Republican Precinct Chairman
Paul Till and Mrs. Till, 5907
High Star, served to introduce
three Republican candidates to
residents of Precinct 283. Thirty

Lavigne Fry by phone these past
few weeks, you’ve probably dis-

here is the reason why. She’s a
working gal now. Her studies at
the University of Houston last
year led to a real estate license,
which in turn led to a position
as an associate in the Hagen
Realty Company. Good luck to
you in your new career, Lavi-

Wish to bid “welcome to

Then on Thursday, Sept. 24
Janet Harris celebrated her 11th
birthday with a wiener roast at
Memorial Park and a Beatle and
twist jam session at her home
for 13 girls friends.
And to top it off, the Harrises
left Friday for Waco to attend
a baby shower for their brand

LESSON SERMON
“Thou wilt keep him in per-
fect peace, whose mind is stay-
ed on thee: because he trustetb
in thee.” This quotation from
Isaiah (26:3) is the central
theme of the Bible Lesson to
be read at Christian Science
churches on Sunday. Also in-
cluded will be this quotation
from "Science and Health with
Key to the Scriptures” by Mary
Baker Eddy: “Human sense may
well marvel at discord, while,
to a diviner seise, harmony is
the real and discord the un-
real” (p. 563). Subject of the
Lesson-Sermon is “Unreality.”
