Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Linam,
4419 Waynesboro, have just re-
turned from a family reunion
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The special event of the re-
union was the Fiftieth Wedding
celebration of Mrs. Linam’s par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jus-
tus.
What a really gorgeous day
this is (Friday). And what a
pleasure it is to open the doors
and windows. The crispness of
the fall day puts a spring in the
step and gives a lift to the
heart, which makes the daily
tasks seem easier.
The JOHNSON JB. HIGH
PTO will start its school activ-
ities with a membership drive
October 5th through 7th. Mrs.
Howard McKinney is the home
room director and assisting her
as co-ordinators are the follow-
ing: For Grade 7, Mesdames J.
D. Bland, E. P. Owen, Val Nor-
man, C. A. Patton; Grade 8,
Mesdames W. E. Martin, H. R.
Short, H. Barrett, L. G. Phillips;
Grade 9, Mesdames Ellis Bird,
Fred Brock, and R. W. Riggins;
High 9, Mrs. J. P. Berling.
There will be a coffee for
chairmen and home room moth-
ers on September 30th at 9:30
a.m. in the school cafeteria.
Rooms with 90% membership
participation will receive free
tickets to the school sock hop
on October 23rd in the school
g'ym. The sock hop will be from
3 to 4:30 p.m. and Jerry O’Keefe
will serve as master of cere-
monies.
Open house at Johnston will
be October 6th from seven to
nine p.m. Parents will meet in
the school auditorium and then
follow their children’s schedule.

E. J. Dietrich, 4329 Hazelton.
The co-hostesses will be Mrs.
D. E. Killam, 4402 Hazelton, and
Mrs. H. R. Vickerstaff, 4618
Briarland.
The program will be presented
by Mrs. Ann McElroy of Virlea’s
of Meyerland Plaza. She will use
as her subject “Here’s How to
Bring Yuletide Spirit to our
Homes and Friends.”
The Willow Meadows Club
will meet on Tuesday, October
6, at 10 a.m. at the home of
Mrs. T. M. Gruner, 4835 Knick-
erbocker. The co-hostess will
be Mrs. J. M. Finley, 4811
Knickerbocker.
The guest speaker will be
Mrs. E. L. Bachelor, whose sub-
ject is “Planning and Planting
for Spring.” Mrs. Bachelor is a
member of the Far Corners Gar-
den Study Club and is a national
accredited flower show judge.
The PETIT JARDIN GAR-
DEN CLUB will hold its regular
meeting on Tuesday, October 6,
Attention Scouts! The West-
bury Methodist Church sponsors
the following troops: Cub Scout
Pack 455 — Dick Johnson, cub
master, will have a “Round Up”
in the Scout House at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 4th. Parents
of boys who wish to become
Cubs are invited to attend this
meeting.
Scout Troop 554 — John Pratt,
scout master, meets on Monday
evenings at 7:30 in the Scout
House.
Scout Troops 455 — Dr. Tom
Benson, scout master, meets on
Wednesday evenings at 7:30 at

The Reid Haywood family of
5522 Redstart is experiencing a
new way of life, having moved
here a short time ago from
Westwood, New Jersey. Nor-
mally at this time of 3 ear they
would be looking out their win-
dows at beautiful fall leaves
taking on their brown, russet
and crimson tones but now they
are looking out their windows
at the swimming pool and the
fereen, green trees. Debra, 10,
a|jW .-^avid, 8, are adjusting to
new studies at Parker School
and Lee, 4, is enjoying new
playmates.
