Hurt, and this should be a Mer-
ry Christmas indeed for all at
4329 Hummingbird.
This has been a good, but busy
week, with two "getting-to-know
you” get togethers. First, I was
happy to meet my fellow Texan
Reporters and second the mem-
bers of the Legal Aid Society, of
which my husband is president.
A day cannot be counted lost
when I meet a new acquaint-
ance or make a new friend.

Congratulations to good neigh-
bor, H. W. (Budl Loman, 4846
Hazelton, on his new position as
director of equipment at the U-
niversity of Houston. Hr has
been with the University since
1950, many of those years as
purchasing agent. He served 15
years as purchasing agent at
Pennsylvania State University,
is a Penn State graduate and
was a registered architect in
Pennsylvania, which Will serve
him in good stead in his new
position.
So far the Lomans seem to be
the party-givers on the block,
having entertained with an open
house and an annual Penn State
Bridge Party.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Watson,
4422 Creekbend, have two De-
cember children and in addition
to the usual Christmas shop-
ping, gift wrapping, and Christ-
mas cards, Mrs. Watson has
been busy with birthday par-
ties.
Last Monday Vicki, age 7, had
a tea party, to which 13 of her
friends came dressed in moth-
er's dresses plus typical tea-
pagty big floppy hats. What lit-
tle girl doesn’t love to "play-
lady”. They had punch and
cookies and each was given a
lovely candle favor.
The week before, Jim, who
was 10, had several friends in
for cupcakes and ice cream. Be-
lated happy birthday to both
Vicki and Jim.
She was crowned by Sponsor
Captain Susan Stekin, chief
sponsor of the Bellaire NDCC
Battalion.
Leslie and Steven Hurt, 4329
Hummingbird, have two rea-
sons to be excited about this
Christmas: Santa, of course,
and grandparents whom they
have not seen for three years
are visiting them. Mr. and Mrs.
Verner Hurt from Emporia, Kan-
sas, are visiting their son’s
family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter L.
The WESTBURY HIGH

rge W. Miller family has moved

and are making their home at
5539 Yarwell. Marilyn attends
Johnston Junior High and Carol

weather last year at Christmas
in Findlay and the whole family
is happy to be celebrating the
holidays once more in the warm-
er climate of our fair city.
YEAR-END
Dec. 28th
at 7818 Hillcroft (at Bissonnet)
Instead of closing with my u-
sual “Interesting Young People”
this week, I want to take this
opportunity to say that this
marks the end of my first six
months as a fledgling reporter.
This has been a challenging and
interesting experience and I have
enjoyed the telephone conversa-
tions with the people who call
in news items, the personal in-
terviews, and the comments I
gather here and there from the
readers of POP. So a great big
‘‘Thank You” to all of you who
have given me the privilege of
writing about you, as well as to
those of you who read what I
have written. May you each
have a Happy and Blessed
Christmas week.
