The robins in the birdbath, the
cardinal, back on his customary
perch on the high wire above the
garage, singing his pre-dawn song,
and the green growing tulips are
all a sure sign of spring. Even
the weather has been heavenly. But

brids won't be hard pressed to
find a warm spot.
Some of our local women speak-
ers will have a busy weekend as
International Toastmistress Clubs
Council IV, will meet at the Hotel
America all day Saturday. Mrs.
Walter Grant, 5818 Bankside Mrs,
W. Keith, 5614 Benning, and Mrs.
Clarence Swatsfager, 4410Meyer-
wood, all members of the Noon-
day Toastmistress Club, will at-
tend. The programwillbeaPublic
Relations Workshop, a briefing on
the approaching clubs speech con-
tests, and educational talks by the
regional officers. The regional
supervisor, Mrs. Eileen Young-
gren from St. Louis, Missouri,
will be present. Miss ouri, will be
present. Miss Eileen Zachry of
San Antonio is the chairman of the
chouncil and Mrs. Swartsfager is
council treasure.

sentative Lee Duggan, 5755Wigton
on his recent appointmentby Speak
er Ben Barnes, as vice chairman
of the Committee on Representa-
tion before the Legislature. He
also was named as a member of
the following committee: counties,
criminal jurisprudence, insurance
military and veterans affairs and
privileges, suffrage and elections.
He and Representative Chet Brooks
have introduced a bill which would
permit cities, without zining, to
go to court to enforce private re-
sidential deed restrictions. Such
a bill would restrict commercial
business encroachment in residen-
tial areas.
A warm welcome is extended
to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chat-
field who have moved from Rich-
ardson, Texas, to 4802 Warm
Springs. Ann, 8, is enrolled at
Red School and as soon as Mark,
5, is over the mumps, he will be
enrolled in kindergarten, and
Becky, 2 plus, enjoys the company
of "Billy Sol’’, the family cat.
