Women, you know, have a
meritorious habit of beautifying
the front yard by placing all
kinds of bushes and shrubs and
flowers along the walls of the
house.
Occasionally, moss or ivy is
placed to flank the front door.
And these all are watered
considerably—thus providing a
cool, protected place for mos-
quitos to call their humble
home.
And as the doors are open-
ed and shut (or left open as
the kids race in and out) the
mosquitos just up and fly into
the house. Or a cool south
breeze blows them into the
house.
I, personally, can’t sleep when
a mosquito buzzes around the
bedroom. So nobody else can,
either, because I’m up like a
shot, handy flit gun in hand
(I keep it under my side of
the bed), leaping around and
climbing up on chairs and things
to get the closer to the enemy
to eradicate it.
Mrs. Gurwell (I should be
so formal) doesn’t like this;
she’d rather have the mos-
quitos: Once I sprained my
ankle, and I didn’t like that.
All this is leading up to a
mild observation and suggestion
to the city fathers:
Brothers, lets get the weeds
cut and the fogging machine
started.
Skeeters are biting!

urday morning. .
The tot had pulled a chair
to the window to get

weight of her body burst the
screen. She fell to the concrete
drive and was unconscious when
her mother reached her.
She was rushed to Texas
Children's Hospital but dis-
missed when doctors found no
broken bones and apparent in
juries.
Two hours later she started
hemorrhaging and was rushed
back to the hospital in serious
condition. By Monday Marci
Dawn was much better and able
to be brought home.
Waiting for her were her two
sisters, Gail Moniece, 4. and
Madylen Lillian, 3, housebound
with the mumps.

About a mile east, at the

A mile west at Bellaire

dignitaries, and the audience
waited and waited in vain for
Mr. Dyer.
“I was sitting at the Y field
waiting to be introduced,” re-
