The daily press recently told
of the arrival in the state of fifty
car loads of catalogues from one
Cnicago mail order house. That
this story was no pipe dream was
proven one day recently when
several scores of cases contain-
ing two dozen catalognes to the
case, arrived at the station here
for distribution through this sec-
tion. The merchant who calm-
ly sits down and imagines that
the influx of those hundreds,
perhaps thousands, of catalogues
in to his territory will cut no
figure in his business will soon
wake up to the fact that he has
been very badly mistaken.
A mail never leaves this town
which does not carry out orders
and money to those gigantic
mail order octopuses in the east-
ern cities. Nine cases out of ten
the same goods could be bought
just as cheaply at home but in a
