Mrs. Matilda McDonald.
On the morning of the 18th of |
February, l!H)7,. the spirit of a
lovely Christian woman took its
flight from a home on earth to a
home in Heaven, prepared by
<»od for his redeem***!.
Mrs. Matilda McDonald was
born in Covington Co., Miss.,
Feb. 5th, 1827, and graduated at
the Female College, Clinton,
Miss. She was married to John
8parks McDonald of Charlotte,
N.C., in Williamsburg, Miss, on
Jan. 15, 1K42. Her husband
died Aug. 15,1S71. Of this union
was born 13. children. All lived j
to b*> grown, excent one.
She was n woman very"imieli ‘
above the ordinary woman in
force of character and integrity.
Formally years left a willow
with a family to raise, sin* m»*t
tin* responsibility resting upon
her and succeeded in that work

She left 3 sons and 4 daugh-

Miss.; J. A. McDonald, Touch-
stone, Miss.; J. H. McDonald,
Pisco, Texas; Mrs. M. E. Buck-1
ley, llamsville, Miss.; Mrs. M.
J. Polk, Cluytonville, Texas;1
Mrs. Millie Lamkin, San An-
tonio, Texas, and Mrs. Nannie
Browner; also 50 grand-chil-
dren, 52 great-grand-eliildren,
and 2 great-great-grund-elril-
dren. She was a faithful wife,
a devoted mother and humble
Christian, standing complete in
Him who was the author ami
finisher of her laitli.
She moved to Brazos county
with her family,Dee., 1875, and
remained then* until Nov., Imho
when she moved with her son’
J. H. McDonald, to Eastland
county, where she has since re-
sided.
She was a member of the
Methodist church for a number
of years, then joined the Pres-
byterian church and was a mem-
ber of that church 22 years.
She was laid to rest in the
Rising Star cemetery by the
side of her daughter, Mrs. B. II.
Henry. Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. J. C. Wat-
kins. After which loving hands
consigned the body to the silent
tomb.
