Carload Of Rice Obtained In County
During Recent C. R. 0. P. Drive
Food for many hungry people—
one carload of rice—has been rais-
ed in the 1954 C.R.O.P. Drive in
Matagorda County. Over 100 indi-
viduals have contributed generous-
ly to this inter-church sponsored
activity. These gifts, which will all
be converted to rice, will soon be on
its way to the Orient to fulfill its
purpose—the feeding of the less
fortunate people of the world.
A ceremony for the transfer of
this rice to the state C.R.O.P. or-
ganization will be held Thursday,
October 29. The short service will
start at 10:00 a.m. at the First
Christian Church in Bay City. W al-
ter Parr, State C.R.O.P. Director,
will be present to accept the gift,
and handle its shipment to its des-
tination. Individuals who support-
ed this program are invited to be
present.

Fifty Years Forward on the American Road!

FORD’S MILEAGE MAKER SIX IS
AMERICA S MOST MODERN SIX?
No other car at any price offers
such advanced Six engine fea-
tures as Ford’s high-compres-
sion Mileage Maker. Take, for
example, Ford’s nearly equal
bore-stroke ratio which shortens
piston travel, reduces friction
and gives longer engine life.
Iake Ford’s free-turning over-
head valves and Power-Con-
toured combustion chambers
which let gas burn more evenly
and completely. And Ford's
Automatic Power Pilot squeezes
the last ounce of power out of
every drop of gas!
FORD’S CENTER-FILL
FUELING makes filling up easier
from either side of pump. The short
fuel pipe helps make Ford’s trunk a
suitcase larger, too.
