Alpha lota'Chapter
Attend Meeting
The regular meeting of the Al-
pha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa
Gamma was held January 22 at
12:30 p.m. at the Missouri City
Elementary School with the Fort
Bend county members as hostesses.
After a delicious luncheon, a
chapter member from the Houston
University faculty, Miss Pauline
Yelderman, shared her experiences
of a trip across Europe during the
summer of 1954.
Local members who attended
were Mrs. Ralph Newsom, Mrs.
Myrle Burton, Miss Nora Hayes
and Miss Thelma Batchelder.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Joiner of
Fort Worth were guests last week
of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chamblee.
Mrs. Adolphus Rioux, who un-
derwent major surgery in Galves-
ton Monday, is in Room 421, St.
Mary’s Hospital, Galveston. Mrs.
Rioux is doing as well as could be
expected and hopes to be home in
about 10 days.
Sodality Meets
St. Anthony’s Sodality held a
meeting in the parish hall Wed-
nesday evening, January 19.
The meeting was opened’ with a
prayer led by Father Constantino.
The secretary read the minutes of
the previous meeting and the roll
was called with 17 members
answering. The treasurer’s report
was made and it was decided to
purchase a banner for the Sodality.
The Victoria Deanery C. Y. O.
resolutions for 1955 were discussed.
It was agreed upon unamimously
to take definite steps toward car-
rying out these resolutions. The
Sodality Convention to be held in
San Antonio February 6 was also
discussed.
The meeting was adjourned with
a prayer. The next meeting will be
February 6 in the parish hall.—

Mrs. Amos Duffy, in her usual
gracious manner, entertained her
Canasta club at a one o’clock lunch-
eon Wednesday.
Felix Adler established the
Society for Ethical Culture.
Pack 47M Cub Scouts
Receive Awards
Cub Scout Pack 47-M had their
regular pack meeting January 20
at the Presbyterian Church. A
number of badges and awards were
given the boys.
Dr. Wilcox presented the sound
film on the railroad system which
was the theme of the month.
Where were all the parents of
those cubs? You missed a good
show.
The next pack meeting will be
the Blue and Gold Banquet which
is the annual Birthday Dinner of
Scouting.
It will be held at the Junior Hi
Cafeteria February 8 at 6:30. Be
there early.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Burgdorf
of Houston spent Sunday here
visiting her father, Henry Bentz,
and Mrs. Viva Metcalfe.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rowton and
two children accompanied by
friends from Corpus Christi spent
Saturday in the Rio Grande Valley
and Reynosa, Mexico.

Mrs. Jerome Kovar and daugh-
ter, Joanie, were in Louise Friday
to bring her daughter, Geraldine
home for the week-end. Geraldine
is attending school in Louise.

attending to business here Satur-

Prairie Center Home
Demonstration Club
The Prairie Center Home Demon-
stration Club met on January 20
at the home of Mrs. Joe Edge. Two
new members, Mrs. L. V. Kearnes
and Mrs. Roy Nelson were added
to our club roll.
Our Home Demonstration agent,
Mrs. Dawn Duncan, gave an in-
teresting demonstration on “De-
sign for Individual Figures and
Pattern Measurement.”
The club voted to donate $5.00
to the March of Dimes. We also
decided to make a quilt to sell,
which will be given away at a
later date.
The next meeting will be at the
club house on February 3 with
Mrs. U. S. McMillan as hostess.
Our demonstration will be “Cake
Decorating” and we will also ex-
change plants.

of Willmar, Minnesota were call-
ing on relatives and friends Sat-
urday. Mrs Linquist was formerly
Emma Johnson, a schoolmate of
Mrs. Wm. Hetchler in Minnesota.

Frankson and Opal Lee Buffalo*
were in Houston Sunday to see
Donald Frankson. Donald continues
to show improvement.
Jerome Kovar was in El Campo
Monday on business.
Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Frankson,
Mrs. F. M. Frankson and son,
Courtland, were in Bay City Mon-
day, where Courtland caught the
bus for Austin to make arrange-
ments for returning to the Univer-
sity.
Floyd Ray and Lana Martin of
Dcutschburg spent Saturday night
and Sunday with their grandpar-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Harris.
Those on the sick list this week
are Mrs. L. E. Frankson and Harry
Frankson. We hope both a speedy
recovery.
The Holmes Drilling Co. com-
pleted drilling another gas well
Tuesday morning. There are now
four producing wells in this field
and more will be drilled.
ALTAR SOCIETY
The ladies of the Altar Society
of St. Anthony’s Parish will spon-
sor a Valentine Social on Sunday,
February 13 at St. Anthony’s Hall.
A games party will begin at 2:00
p.m., and hotdogs and refresh-
ments will be sold during the after-
noon. There will also be a cake-
walk and other forms of entertain-
ment. Pies, cakes and coffee will be
available.
The public is cordially invited.
