A Deployable Less.
We learn that the grasshoppers are cre-
ating havoc among the plants, vines and
other bees in the orchard of Mr. Ed. Perry,
we regret very much Mr. Perry's mlsiort-
ure, as many of oar citizens were anxious-
ly watching the result of bis efforts in fruit
culture, preparatory to investing. Mr.
Perry has out over 12.000 of very fine Wil-
son strawberries, all in the finest state of
cultivation. Some plants having aboot
MO blossoms on them. The grasshoppers
appear to do tittle damage to. the leaves of
the plants bat era feasting on the flowers.
Mr. Perry will lose over $1,000 on Ills
strawberries he informs ns unless they
abandon his Held.
The grape vines, over 1,000 In number,
are Just potting out a few leaves, and are
In danger ot being, ontiraly annihilated.
Mr. Perry’s fruit trees, about3,500 in num-
ber, have sufeted less than the rest of his
shrubs, bat be Amts they will be destroyed
as soon as the pots have the strength to
elimb or fly up Into them.
Be has tried driving aad boring sawdus
and sulphur, but appears unable to make
any serious Impression on them. -
