the great Carnival, ablaze with enthusi-

crowded with visitors, and those who had
the management of the Carnival In charge
"felt sanguine of success.
l'he day' ibr the great shbw arrived,
though the weather at art early hour was
anything but encouraging. Fortunately
the clouds and miltfeg raiu cleared, away,
long before the hour announced for the
appearance of tire King of the Carnival aud
the day was changed to ouc of royal
beauty.
The time forthe ^ffi^’i^FfI|alSaflbben

this liour, ull available space on the streets,
balconies, and wipdpws along the route,
which tho procession was to move, was
occupied. The King by invitation of the
Mayor of Dallas, was received at the
Lamar House, and was there presented by
the Mayor with the keys of the city to

After traversing the principal streets

Suffice it to say, the display was nearly, if
notlul)y,a mile long,in which could be seen
handsomly mouuCPfi/jloats, upon'which
was represented scenes--both modem
and ancient; sublime and.«kliculous, inter-
