terprise of the managers of the associa-
tion in complying so faithfully with the
promises made to the people of Denison,
and for the tasty fence which surrounds
our beautiful park. He spoke of the pro-
gress of the town; how it had sprung In
two years’ time from a cotton field to a
prosperous city, teeming with its thous-
ands of people. At the close of the speech,
at 0:15 o’clock, the wheels began to roll—
the large wheel containing the prizes In
charge of I)r. T. A. Cutler, the small one
in which wore the tags or numbers, was
in charge of Jno. Nertns: two boys, Kddte
Tibbs and Ffank Andrews, were brought
forwarded and blindfolded; their duties
were: Andrews to draw the tags from the
wheel. Tibbs the prizes. Theft* were
handed to Messrs, W. J. Bcott and J. H.
Day, respectively, Mr. Scott reading the
number drawn and Mr. Day the amount
of the prize.
The first prize of any amount was $175,
and elicited great applause from the audi-
ence. The next was $100. Holders of
these tickets not yet known. A railroad

The Wrong Men this Time. j
Yesterday morning one of mir city offi-
cials espied a ronorh-iooktng crowd rathe;
early in the day, bolding a private conver-
sation on a back street. Judging from the
excitable manner, he at once concluded
that there was something wrong. Making
himself known to the party, they at once
informed him that they were merely figur-
ing up how much money they had saved
by buying their outfit at Casper ft Co.’s.

The Denison boys acquitted themselves
nobly. Gits Arey said his mouth was
very much swollen on account of “blow-
ing ” so hard. W. S. Lowe, “pretty Wil-
lie,” was the star of the occasion. Me
caught all the girls’ eyes. Jo Enper was
Immense. lie was taken several times for
one of the managers of the occasion on
account of his manly bearing and extreme
good-naturedness. And now comes the
inimitable Tom Taylor and Ike Waples.
Must we mention it? These boys arc sub-
lime In their “specials.” Tom was es.
sorting the ladies, and In the language of
the Immortal poet, “he was himself
again.” These two are the ones who bold
the $Us0*0 prize. Jim Leonard is trying
