are hurt by such an attitude.
There is no doubt as to the business
recession being on. We can’t help it by
saying it does not exist, nor brand as ca-
lamitists those who declare that such a
state of affairs is here.
The sensible thing to do is to acknow-
ledge it and set about to remove it. As a
matter of fact, it should not be here. It is
born of fear as to what is to come of busi-
ness and investments, and is more or less
well founded. We must set about getting
rid of the cause that is back of this reces-
sion.
Business is fearful—all kinds of busi-
ness. They don’s know just what is com-
ing in on the offing and they are hesitant
until they are assured that Washington is
to take an entirely different attitude.
Fear of the Wage and Hour bill, the
centralization of power, the compulsory
farm program, and the dangers of inflation
in the offing, along with undue taxing of
business, form some of the occasions for
the temporary setback business is getting.
