Improving programs.
Floor debate on the administra-
tion bill, which was endorsed by
the American Farm Bureau Federa-

O'Neal, its president, on President
Roosevelt, was marked by another
bi-partisan attack on its constitu-

the supreme council of the Ancient
and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free-
masonry. At various times he rep-
resented different foreign nations
on the supreme council,
Although Cochran was one of the
best known Texan of his generation
and frequently active in public af-
fairs, he never sought public office.
He served as regent of the Universi-
ty of Texas and member of the
Dallas Park board, but his name
appeared on a ballot but once. That
was when in the summer of 1933
he was a dry delegate to the con-
vention to consider repeal of the
18th amendment.
Mr. Cochran’s record of service
to Freemasonry dates back to 1890,
when he became a member of Gol-
den Rule lodge No. 345 In Coving-
ton, Ky. Later he transferred to
Dallas lodge No. 760. He had filled
the chairs of the high presiding of-
ficer of each of the five Masonic
grand bodies of Texas. He was re-
sponsible, more than any other in-
dividual, for the establishment of
a home for aged Masons in Texas.
