Funeral services for Miss Fttie

Mi s Rankin was killed Friday
afternoon, April 13, in a car-train
collision at the west edge of Sam-
norwood She was driving west on
Farm lo Market Road 1038 when
he collided with a Fort Worth
and Denver Railway treight on
route front Pampa to Childress.
The accident occurred shortly
before 2-30 pm.
Investigating officers of the Tex-
as Highway Patrol said there were
no skidmarks and that Miss Rankin
apparently did not set* the oncom-
ing train. The automobile, a 195d
two-door model, was knocked abmit
50 feet down the tracks and came
to rest on the top

saw the car approaching and ap-
plied the brakes, but that the train
could not be stopped in time
