tions were not covered, Mcllhany
explained.
HB 1G is designed to give tl.e
f irmer more protection as to the
quality of feed that he has pur-
"hased.
The Texas Farm Bureau and
the Southwestern Cattle Raisers
Association have done a great deal
of work in drawing up this bill.
Tt guarantees a more uniform In-
spection of commercial feeds and
makes provisions for the first time
for the proper labeling of anti-
biotics, vitamins and antioxidants.
“I believe its end result will be
that the farmers of Texas wilt
| have a better guarantee that they
are actually getting the quality
of feed that they are paying for,”
j Mcllhany said.
The bill regulates the manufac-
ture and sale of commercial feed,
and defines such terms as "cus-
tomer-formula feed," "special for-
mula feed" and “made to order
feed."
It provides for the exemption of
custom mixed or custom milled
feeds, as defined in the act.
Tt further provides for the reg-
ulation of commercial feeds, pro-
vides for their labeling, levying
and method of payment of inspec-
tion fees, defines adulteration and
misbranding; refines the author-
ity of the Director of the Texas
Agricultural Experiment Station;
and provides for penalties for Vio-
lation of the proposed law.
