Rountree-Lowry Vows Solemnized
Saturday In Lutie Baptist Church
Miss Janice Rountree, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rountree of
Lutie, and James Joel Lowry, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lowry, also
of Lutie Community, exchanged
wedding vows in Lutie Baptist
Church on Saturday, August 22, at
(1:00 o'clock in the evening.
The Rev. Verrell Leeper,
officiated.
A row of votive candles formed
a background for the wedding set-
ting. A basket of white mums and
pompons were placed behind the
satin-covered kneeling bench,
which was flanked with candelabra
holding lighted tapers. Two lighted
candles on the lectern were used
by the couple at the end of the
ceremony to light a center cand-
le, symbolic of their marriage.
Mrs. Paul Schaub, vocalist, and
sister of the bridegroom, and his
cousin, Dwayne Young, pianist,
provided the wedding music. Both
are from Lubbock.
Miss Darlene Rainey was
maid of honor. Bridemaids were
Miss Jo Lynn Melton of Pine Bluff,
Ark., niece at the bride, Miss Sue
Massey of Robs ton, Miss Pollye
Clark of Ddsier, and Mrs. Paul.
Schaub of Lttbbock.
They wore identical dresses ol
pale yellow brocade taffeta fash-
ioned with boat necklines and
floor - length bell - shaped skirts.
The matching pill box headpieces
held double nose-veils. The honor
attendant tarried a bouquet of yel-
low roses and bridesmaids each
carried one long-stemmed yellow
rose.

John Alexander of Wilson; Don
Sweat, cousin of the bridegroom,
his brother-in-law, Paul Schaub of
Lubbock, and Pete Smith of Sam-
norwoOd.
DiAnna Schaub and Lowry Sch-
aub, both of Lubbock, served as
flower girl and ring bearer.
Candles were lighted by Kim
Janes, nephew of the bride, and
her cousin, Rocky Deger. Two other
nephews, Kyle Janes and Kevin
Melton, the latter of Pine Bluff,
Ark., unrolled the bridal carpet.
The bride was escorted to the
altar and given in marriage by
her father. She was attired in a
formal-length gown of silk organ-
za and lace. The bodice featured a
jeweled neckline and long sleeves
which terminated in petal points
over the wrists. An overlay of lace
accented the bodice and tunic effect
on the controlled skirt. A flowing
square chapel train of lace was
attached at the center back waist-
line, marked toy a large fabric bow.
Her crownless pill box was of silk
organza and crystals, and held an
pastor, elbow-length veil of silk illusion.
The bride carried a bouquet of
orchids and lily of the valley, tied
with white satin streamers. Two
red roses from the bouquet were
presented to the mothers of the
couple.
Following the ceremony, Mr. and
Mrs. Rountree were hosts at a re-
ception in their home. The bride's
table was laid with a cloth of
white net, embroidered in seed
pearls. Decorations featured a row
of votive candles which formed a
background for the centerpiece of
yellow mums and pompons. Ap-
pointments were in crystal.
Mrs. Pete Melton of Pine Bluff,
Artt., aJid Mrs. Bill Janes, sisters
of the bride, presided at the tabic.
Assisting with the serving were
Miss Joyce Alexander and Miss
Jennifer Leeper. Guests were reg-
istered by Miss Elaine Tate. Miss
Merrijon Alford of Lubbock dis-
played the wedding gifts. Sandy
Deger of Fort Worth, distributed
rice bags from the rice tree.
For travel the bride donned a
suit in a chocolate brown shade
complemented with beige accessor-
ies. Her corsage was a white orchid.
Both the bride and bridegroom
are students in Texas Technological
College, Lubbock. The bride was
graduated from Samnorwood High
School in 1962. She also attended
Hardin-Simmons University, Abi-
lene, where she was a member of
Beta Gamma Epsilon and the busi-
n«s fraternity.
A 1961 graduate of Samnorwood
High School, the bridegroom is a
pre-dental student and will be a
senior tills year. His social frater-
nity is Sigma Chi.
Following a trip to points In
Colorado, the couple will be at
home at 2864 ISfh Street, Lub-
bock.

Mr. and Mrs. John Cadra of
Pakan Community, will be honored
at a service on Sunday, Septem-
ber 6, at 3:00 o'clock in the after-

Martha Davis, student at St.
Anthony's School of Nursing in
Amarillo, has just completed six
months* of training at San Anton-
io. She spent the week-end here
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.
W. Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brew-
er drove to Amarillo Sunday to
take Miss Davis back to school.
