Father Of Local
Minister Dies
W. A. Melton. 70. of Port Worth.
fathur of the Rev C. B Melton,
pastor of the First Methodist
Church of Shamrock, died April
14, following an Illness of three
months.
Funeral services were conducted
at 2.30 pm. Thursday April 16.
at Shannon Funer.d Chapel In
In Fart Worth, and burial was in
that city.
Born in Arkansas on October 9.
1884, Mr. Melton came to Texas
when lie was nine yean old. He
farmed In the Chilllcothe area for
many years before moving to Port
Worth in IMS
Survivors Include: his wife, Mrs.
Elizabeth Melton of the home in
Fort Worth; three sons, W. G. and
L O. Melton of Fort Worth and
the Rev. C. B. Melton of Shamrock;
and one daughter. Mrs. Leola Cal-
houn of South Houston.

Rites Conducted
For E. K. Pounds
Final rites for Earnest Kyle
Pound*. 76, a resident of Shamrock
for *1 yearn, were held at 2 o'clock
Wednesday afternoon in tha First
Christian Church.
Mr. Pounds, owner and operator
of the Pounds Salvage Shop here
until his retirement a few years
ago. died at 9; 15 o'clock Monday
afternoon at Madill, Olda., where
he had been visiting his sister,
Mrs. Florence Adams.
Officiating at the funeral services
were George Weems of Wheeler
and the Rev C. B. Melton, pastor
of tlie First Methodist Church of
Shamrock.
Serving as pallbearers were: W.
A. Suns. John E, Wilson, Burl
Harrington. George Barth, M. J.
Harris and Andrew Morgan.
Rlcherson Funeral Home was in
charge of interment in Shamrock
Cemetery.
Mr Pounds was bom March 25.
1889. in Jefferson County, Mo. He
was married on February 9, 1913,
at Tishomingo, Okla., to Miss Lily
Fay Pennington, and they moved
to Shamrock in 1923. Mrs. Pounds (
passed away July 18, I960
He was a member of the First
Christian Church of Shamrock.
Survivors, In addition to his sis-
ter, include; two daughters, Mrs.
Ovtd Phillips of Gladewater and
Mrs. Jack Williams of Pampa; one
grandson, one granddaughter and
three great-grandsons.
