Thursday, January 9 in the
I O.O.F Hall to install officers

Mrs. Opal Oxford, District
Deputy President, from Step-
henville was the installing of-
ficer assisted by Mrs. Estelle
Anderson, Miss Minnie I-ee Col-
lins. Mrs. Lottie House, and
Mrs. Minnie McMillen all of
Stephenville. Mrs. Jessie King
was installed as Noble Grand;
Mrs. Mary Wright, Vice-Grand;
Mrs. Effie Randolph, secretary;
and Mrs. Minnie Bean, treasur-
er. Other appointed officers
were also Installed.
A social Hour was held follow-
ing the meeting and refresh-
ments were Served.
The Woman's Thursday Club Meets
Elects Officers At Vestal Home
Seed of a new cotton variety,
adapted to harvesting by ma-
chine, should be available com-
mercially by the 1965 growing
season, says the USDA. Rex
Smoothleaf was slightly more
productve than the Rex variety,
and the mechanical harvester j
picked up less trash with it.
Though the fibers of the two are
of about the same length the
new variety had stronger fiber 1

Thursday Club met at the home
of Mrs. R. S. Vestal on Thurs-
day, Jan. 9, for their annual
business meeting which was
conducted by the president, Mrs.
Everett Colbom.’ Officers for the
1964-65 dub year were elected
as follows: Mrs. T. C. Cranber-
ry, president; Mrs. Guy Jones,
first vice-president; Mrs. R. M.
Milhollin, second vice-president;
Mrs. R. D. Burnett, recording
secretary; Mrs. Harlan Raley,
corresponding secretary; Mrs.
H. E. Fisher, treasurer, Mrs/
Leslie Billingsley, censor; Car-
olyn Col born press reporter and
Mrs. R, S. Vestal, parliamentar-
ian.
Mrs. Ferrell Abercrombie,
chairman of the program com-
mittee, presented a comprehen-
sive report on possible topics of
study for next year. Other com-
mittee members, Mrs, D. R.
Franks and Mrs. T. C. Cranber-
ry, commented on study topics
such as the performing arts,
geography and the space age.
Reports were heal’d from all
standing committees and were
accepted by the club.
Mrs. Colbom informed the
club that names of two former
members, Mrs. E. W. Harris
and Mrs. Maurice Reid, who
were deceased during 1963.
