to the supreme louncll, but as only two
conld be elected one wts chosen from

B. Stubbs, of Galveston, and A. J. Jourde,

Graves died on. Sunday, Aug. 4. She

herself to many.

Boss issued a warrant for the arrest of C.

requisition was Issued an complaint of J.
W, Sloas, cashier of the State national
bank of Birmingham, Ala, who charged
C. M. Lewis with forging his name to two

and New Birmingham.

El. Paso, Tex., Aug, 13—'Tho South-
western mining exchange met and adopted
strong resolutions denouncing the efforts of
the Colorado lead monopolists to have °«n
hnpprt duty placed upon leadbearing ores.
Tlie hoard of trade adopted similar resolu-
tions and the city council will Mso take ac-
tion In the matter. The entire southwest
will lie iuvited to Join in resisting the mon-
opolists.

some complaint of the worm but no serious
damage has been done yet.
The corn crop was never bettor, probably
never so good since t870.
The wheat crop Is supposed to be dam-
aged about 39 per cent by excessive rains,
but will average about fourteen bushels to
the sere. „
Tbe oat crop was very seriously dsm
aged by rain, still It will average about
thirty bushels to tbe acre.
This it principally a small grain sad
corn county.

with having stolen Jones’ horse In Arkan-
sas and on the way here traded It for a
mule. After getting his horae Jones and
the owner of the mule followed Frlsby
and he wns caught in possession of the
mule. Frlsby has lived about Brownsboro
part of each year for about ten years. He
