know where to obtain all that
is beautiful, rare or novel in the
line of
MEXICAN ART WORK AND
CURIOS.
Our claim as original discover-
ers in this line has never been
seriously questioned.
The immense quantities and
various patterns and designs of
MEXICAN DRAWN W6RK
now to be found in our Juarez,
Mexico, and—H-'Paso, Texas,
stores will convince the most
skeptical. New goods arriving

TlfE BEST.
Tliftit is the case with Maple Syrup. My
contracts with the Vermont farmer are cut
and dried long before the sap begins to run.
The kind of Syrup I offer for $1 75 a gallon is
neither cheap nor dear, but there’s one thing
sure—IT'S PURK- justas pure as the sugar
maples and the sugar makers of Vermont can
produce.
THERE’S A FULL MEASURE OF VALUE

WE ARE IN IT FOR A GREAT NATIONAL
EVENT.
The Agreement Fixed *o Ihet Den Stuart

Smith Looking for a Fight-Jimmy Carrol
Will Help Train Fltxilmmiat.
From the latest Information obtain-
ed Dan Stuart has about oompleted ell
arrangements for a graod physical enl
Core carnival In the violntty of El Paso
daring the week oommenoing Monday.
February the 10th.
Of course Fitzsimmons and Maher
will be the big attraction bat there will
be two other tights between pugilists
of national reputation. It Is the ob
ject of Dan Stnart, as understood here,
to make the carnival last through the
week thus affording him an opportun-
ity to make something out of the bull
fights In Juarez. But while Mr.
Stuart Is holding the crowd here El
Paso will also be coining money.
As soon as Fitzsimmons reaches El
Paso and goes into training the sports
will commence drifting In from all
points of the compass and El Paso will
oe crowded with visitors attract* d here
by this carnival, from the middle of
January to the 16th of February.
Jimmy Carroll, the retire ) light
weight champion of the world, who
now resides in the Oity of Mexico, has
been engaged to train Maher for the
coming fight, and Oarroll will no doubt
arrive shortly to select training quar-
e:s for bis mao. Oarroll has written
to friends lu this city stating that he
woald bring Billy Smith along and
will match him against any 150 pound
man lq the Uoitid States. ' Billy was
Oliver when he left this city for Mexi-
co and a year under suoh a treiaer as
Jimmy Oarroll has no doubt w iked
wonders la him.
A speolal to the Dallas News from
Houittn relative to the signing of
Fi z lmmoce, says: “Dan 8 uart, the
impresario of the prize ring, arrived
From Dallas this morning and spea'.

Is that the prize fight scheduled to
take place between Fltz and Maber
will come oif at El Paso on Fab. 14,
the parse being $10,000 There was
bat one change made lu the articles of
agreement. They or’ginally provided
'hat In o*6e the principals failed to
agree npan a lefereethat functionary
should be ohoaen by the stakeholder.
That is ohanged ao that In case of auob
failure to tgree Dan Stuart shall rusk*
t he oboiie. When asked exactly where
the fight would take plaoe, Mr. Stuart
refused to say. “It will be within e
mile and a half of the court house at
El Paso,’,'said he, “and that may pat li
In either Texas, Mexico or New Mex
loo. It is a sure go this time aod they
could fight with meat axes If they
wanted to.”
It is evident that Din Stuart don’t
ntend to have any more of Vi.dig’s
circus performances with only talk
and trumpeting. Mr Stuart Is going
at bis work oautlonsly, he Is Bare of
what he lb doing and is not giving onl
his programme in order to be Interfer-
ed with at the last moment. It is pos
sible that Maher will train at Albu-
querque or Lis (Jruoes as the two
principals in suoh a fight seldom train
in the same city.
Texas will not have anything fo tay
ot the forth coming physical culture
meit. The New York Sun published
the following when Gov. Oulbarson
defeated Stuart's short's to pull off
the fight iu Dallas:
TEXAS TALKS.
I am the St»te of Texar,
The great and ouly Lone Star,
The biggeit In the
Firmament of the Union.
Once I was
The Bully Boy of the Brazot.
The Rip Snorting Rooster
Of the Rio Grande,
And I could lick my weight in wildcats,
And chaw up a s*c»r
And use his horns forl'othpi ks;
I could harg a horse thief
Id four minutesbj the w 'fell,
And shcot a town full of ho es
On seven.can drinks of wh skey,
But 1 am not that kind any more;
I am a changed bei g:
My ways are ways of pleasantness
And all my paths 're peace.
I am a sucking dove,
And if anybody want ito kick

I have forsaken the wild and wooly,
And shall go to Boston
For ai tculture
And tin study of the Intellcctua's
And bears.
The cowboy shall know me no more
Forever,
And the maverick
..Shall no longer claim me»sa brother;
That is tha kind of a Texas

And if those prize fighters
Try to pull oif a fight
In my midst.
By gravy,
Something's going to happen.

CAUGHT ON THE FLY.
“Las Crnoes should get a move on
Itself and try and eeoure Maher’s
training quarters at (hat plaoe,” said a
rustlo on last night's Incoming local
train. “It would show the people, who
woald oome here to see the pugilist,
what a rloh farming oountry there is In
that vlolnlty and then besides the
name of the town would be heralded
dally to all parts of the oountry.”

“The reoelvers of the Juarez branch
of the El Paso National bank have ool-
leoted some $11,000,” said a Juarez
creditor of that Institution yesterday,
“and it is muoh needed by those to
whom It Is due. There Is no use In
having that money lying Idle and it
shoald be distributed at onoe. This
matter shoold be brought to the at-
tention of Governor Ahnmada who is
now In Jaarez on an otfiolal visit. He,
no donbt. would recognize the justloe
of a request foY distribution of this
money If the matter was properly
brought to his attention.”

“Yesterday the slightly oold weather
had the effeotof causing onr lively
streets to seem comparatively desert-
ed,” said a rounder yesterday evening,
as he held np a lamp post sheltered
from the bretzs. “El Paso has bsen
er joying beautiful weatber until today
and this Is to last for nearly a week.
However, this kind of weatber up
east would be termed fair and would
not be considered oold by acy means.
The blood of the people who live here
for any length of lime gels so thin
that slightly chilly a'mosphere has a
great eff.ot on them."

“This excitement about the reported
dlsoovery at AUamore Is all nonsense,”
said an experienced mining man last
night. “1 have been thriu^b a num-

claims. The man that gets lu first
and does a little development work is
