Many fanners have
small grain up end growing
well, others are planting cover
crops following the harvest of
peanuts. These can be • big as-
set as far as winter grazing is
concerned. Especially if they
are managed correctly. To re-
ceive maximum grazing, oats,
wheat, barley and rye should
be from six to eight inches high
before they are grazed. Rese-
arch has shown that small
grain will produce considerably
more fall grazing when allowed
to reach 6 to 8 inches height as
compared to grazing the plants
when they are four inches tall.
When grazed to the four inch
height do not get a good root
system developed before cold
weather. Unless they have lots
of leaves they cannot grow
fast. This of course limits the
grazing during winter when the
leaves are not growing- To help
conserve your pastures, graze
your animals only a few hours
each day, as otherwise much
will be stomped down by cattle
just wandering around. Many
dairv men find that two hours
will fill the cow sufficient. Thus
they stretch out their winter
grazing.
CLEAN UP PERIOD:
Left over chemicals from
spraying insects or dusting or
spraying peanuts should be sto-
red for winter. They can be us-
ed next year and save you
some money if properly cared
for. Wettable powders such as
sulfur for leaf spot control to
keep out moisture. Lids on cans
should be tightly closed, and if
you have made a dust these
holes should be taped to seal
the holes.
Liquid materials should be
in three original leveled conta-
iners because the active mater-
ial or carrier may be corrosive
to other containers. All bottles
or cans containing liquids should
be tightly sealed to prevent loss
of activity by vaporization.
These products should also be
stored in a cool place where
the temperatures do not under-
go extreme changes. If the lab-
el has become faded or torn, it
may be a good idea to copy the
vital information and attach it
to the container along with the
old label.
All unlabeled material should
be discarded immediately. Be
sure to dispose of the material
safely. Burying the material at
a depth of at least 18 inches is
l: j generally safe. Remember i
. 'chemicals should be Mored u
their der lock 3[Kj key.
Sprayers, dusters should be
given special care prior to Mor-
age. As mc6t chemicals are ra-
ther corrosive. They can be
washed and • light covering of
lubricant put on the material,
this will help in keeping rust to
a minimum, and it will be rea-
dy for use next year. This is al-
so true of fertilizer spreaders.
All equipment should be stored
completely dry. Check the oper-
ators manual for further care
prior to storing. It can save you
many dollars.

HEARING TEST
SET FOR DUBLIN
Free, Electronic hearing test
will be held in Dublin. Anyone
that has a hearing problem of
any kind is welcome to come
in for the test. Pictures of the
ear showing how the ear works,
and why a per-
son loses his
heaping, also
the nerve sys-
tem of the ear
that is connect*
ed to the brain,
to tell us what
we have heard.
Each person is
tested with the
latest electronic Mr. Treadway
machine that can pinpoint in
what part of the ear they are
having trouble and what can be
done to help them.
Each person can see how a
simple operation on the ear has
let thousands of people hear
again. How the new electronic
device is helping thousands of
people with the dreaded NERVE
DEAFNESS to hear again. How
2-year-old children are b e i ng
fitted with aids and can learn
to hear and talk. How packed
wax in the ear canal affects
the hearing. How head conges-
tion affects the hearing.
Everyone should have a hear-
ing test at least once a year if
they have any hearing loss.
Even people that wear Hearing
Aids should have a test. People
that have been told that noth-
ing could be done for them
should have a test each year,
as new ways are being dis-
cOvered to help these people.
The test in Dublin will be
held at the Hotel Dublin, Mon-
day, Nov. 20th from 2 p.m. to
3 p.m.
Mr. Treadway who is an Au-
diotician will conduct the test
through the courtesty of the
temple Hearing Center at 108
S. Bell in Hamilton.
If you miss the test you may
come to the Hamilton office any
Friday between 8 a.m. and 4
p.m. and have your test.
