sickness; no deaths; no I say you have the devil on the
marriages, but some time in the
near future I think there will be.
Hasn’t it been hot though, to-
day. There is a good wind blow-
ing, and is looking very much
run. Keep him on the run. Don’t
freeze up in the winter and let
the devil get you all on the run.
I know how it is—I have ex-
perienced it. It is true we are
like rain. Some say we need rain, prone to giye good advice, but
while others say cotton would do
better without it. I never saw
corn and cotton fail as fast as it
has the last few days. Some cot-
ton has sheded about all the
forms, while some cotton is
holding out very well. At least
one-fourth of what was on the
stalks a day ago has been shed
off. Cotton in botton lands is
still holding up very well, but an
overflow may come yet and ruin
it.

Wandering John your letter of
last week was strictly true. Now,
why I say true, I am sorry to
say, but experience is good testi-
mony. I had in my young days
a great deal of dealings with the
devil and his agents, and I al-
ways got beat. Come on with
your good letters.
Monday Morning.—Well, on
yesterday evening we had a fine
rain, which I hope will be a ben-
efit.

hear from you. With peace and
good will to all, I close.
