munity attended Trades Day in Dub-

April 22nd.—Night before last we
had a good shower which did not do
any good more than revive our droop-
ing hearts with the prospects of more
in it short time. A stiff fi Art her Is
blowing this morning and the indica-
tions are that we will have more fall-
ing weather goon. If it does noi rain
soon some of our citizens say they
are going to ermnigrate to u different
climate.
Mr. Ed. Jones and wife came in
from Duffuii yesterday, where ids
wife has been teaching school the past
winter. The school closed Monday on
account of funds running short.
Quite a good number of Odd Fel-
lows visited the lodge at Carlton last
week and were very highly entertain-
ed. The lodge at that place seiyns to
be in a vry prosprous condition, hav-
ing new work on hand most all the
time.
School is full and everything seems
to be moving on nicely. Several of
the pupils will stand the county ex-
amination In May. Our school society
which has been meeting every other
Friday evening suspended last meeting
in order to get ready for the closing
exercises of the school, which will
be Friday, June 4th
An election will be held May 1st to
elect four trustees. The terms of
C. H. Goodwin, L. G. Baldwin. W. [).
Martin and J. Jones expire at that
time. This is a matter that all should
be interested in as the welfare of any
community depends in a large degree
on the public schools, and ttie trus-
tees have the authority to govern them.
