Annual Meeting
Of Carson County
Red Cross Is Held
The annual meeting of the Carson
County Chapter of the American
Red Cross was held in the court-
house last Thursday, June 25. Much
interest in Red Cross activities
were developed during the program
which consisted of committee re-
ports, short talks by regional and
district ARC officals and by others
interested in the work of Red Cross.
Miss Ann Olson of Panhandle and
a hard worker in the Pink Angels
group at St. Anthony’s Hospital in
Amarillo told of the work of this
volunteer teen-age group. This was
an unusually interesting report. Mrs.
C. R. Parrish of Panhandle and
active in Hutchinson County Group
of Gray Ladies gave an equally well
received report on the work of this
important volunteer group of Red
Cross workers. The local chapter
l as given considerable thought to-
ward such a group in Carson County.
Such is truly needed and no doubt
will be organized in the near future.
Mr. Dick Strayer who recently
moved to Amarillo from Wichita
Falls explained his duties as dis-
trict field representative of ARC
and pledged his support in assisting
the chapter in anyway possible.
Miss Donna Sims of the Midwestern
ARC office in St. Louis spoke on
what the chapter can expect from
the American National Red Cross
and what will be expected of chap-
ter in furthering the Red Cross pro-
gram in the county.
Among the committee reports pre-
sented and accepted were those of
Mr. Harold Staats on First Aid,
Mrs. Catherine Brown and Mrs..
Albert Wilson on Home Nursing, Mr.
Wayne Cox on Disaster Relief and
Mrs. L. B. Weatherly’s report on
special services including assistance
to the retraining group at the Am-
arillo Air Force Base.
The nominating committee report j
was presented by Mrs. Glyn D.
Harrell in the absence of Rev. Alvis
Cooley, the chairman. This report
was accepted and the following per-
sons elected. President, H. M. Nich-
ols; Vice President, Mrs. Ruby
