New Low-Voltage Home Lighting System
LOS ANGELES—Showing that night lighting of a garden, .patio
®r terrace is now a simple, inexpensive thing to do is Miss Diane
! Whitaker, 1964 California Fashion Model of the Year.
Making it so simple is a new, complete low-voltage home lighting
system introduced by American -:-.-:----
Machine & Foundry's Los An-
geles subsidiary, Wen-Mac
Corporation.
£ Aptly called, "California low-
voltage Garden Lights,” the sys-
tem brings to home owners
across the country colorful out-
door "home lighting” so popular
in California.
However, rather than an ex-
pensive $200-$300 conduit instal-
lation, this new low-voltage
AMP complete system costs un-
der seventy dollars and can be
hooked up in minutes. Neither
building permit or permanent
conduits are needed.
The unique feature of the
AMF/Wen-Mac system is the
use of a current-reducing trans-
former which puts out only 12
volts of power. It costs but 2c
per night to operate.
Any ordinary 110 volt house-
hold outlet serves as the power
source for the California Garden
lights.
Power from the transformer is
sufficient to light up six vari-
hued garden lights which use
a common "automobile-type”
sealed-beam unit. Six different
colored lens covers fit over he
sealed beams and may be
changed on a minute’s notice.
The California Garden Lights
clip onto a heavy 100 foot cable
much like Christmas tree lights.
They are anchored in the
ground with a simple ground
spike. >
An automatic timer'turns the
shock-proof lights on and off
at any designated time. Of news
to gardeners is the ease in mov-
ing the lights. Additionally, it
is no problem to install lighting
after the garden is completely
planted.
Any home can be more beau-
tiful at night with light. Soft
colored light, not harsh white
floodlights, has that great ad-
vantage of the "dramatic.” It
shows only what the home own-
er wants to show. A yard with-
out night lighting becomes use-
less at night. But, with colored
lights it becomes either a view
•to be seen and admired from in-
side the home or an area to en-
joy outside.
It is expected that housewives
across the country will now
turn their attention to "outdoor
decorating” with light. They
will, no doubt, insist on blue
lights for, winter snow, green
light for spring leaves, pink
light for summer flowers and
yellow light for autumn leaves.
Party givers will find this new
"instant-light” will glamourize
any barbeque, swim party or
even wedding reception.
California low-voltage Garden.
Lights will make leisured]me
outdoor living more of a pleas-
ure and a leisure in any season,
around the clock.
