Lights tours
to Corpus
are cancelled
Unlike in years past, the City of
Port Aransas will not be able to of-
fer tours of Christmas light displays
in Corpus Christi.
In years past, the city had the use
of two Regional Transportation Au-
thority (RTA) buses, but this year
the city is down to one, with no
backup in the event it is out of com-
mission.
Executive secretary Pat Garrett
said the bus is used primarily as the
Flexi-B, transporting passengers to
and from medical appointments and
shopping in Corpus Christi. The bus
has more than 200,000 miles on it,
and has been in the repair shop
many times during the past year.
“In order to insure that there is a
bus for the daily trips to Corpus
Christi, it would not be to the City’s
best interest to stretch the one bus
we do have to its limits,” she said.
“RTA is in the process of trying
to procure a new bus, and in that
event, the city will try to sponsor
the Christmas Lights Tours next
year,” Garrett added.

Family Center IGA from now
through Dec. 24. They also may be
left at the Port Aransas Police De-
partment, 705 W. Ave. A; the Emer-

or the Port Aransas Volunteer Fire
Department, 202 E. Ave. C.
Emergency service workers also
will accept donations.
Monetary donations are being ac-
cepted to purchase additional toys.
Checks should be made payable to
Emergency Services Toy Round-Up,
and sent to 705 W. Ave. A (or P.O.
Box 840), Port Aransas TX 78373.
Parents may apply for toys for their
children through Friday, Dec. 17, by
picking up applications at the public
safety building, 705 W. Ave. A, and
returning them to the police depart-
ment in that building. Applicants
