Engineers Declare
War on Accidents
LANSING, Mich. (ft-Michigan’s
railroad engineers are organizing
like oldtime vigilantes in an effort
to cut down railroad crossing ac-
cidents.
The trainmen have pledged
themselves to swear out com-
plaints and go to court to testify
against anyone spotted driving
unsafely at a crossing.
Robert C. Pitsch, legislative
chairman for the Michigan chap-
ter of the Brotherhood of Loco-
motive Firemen and Engineermen
said: "We decided to go after con-
victions ourselves after two of our
brotherhood were killed in a
crash into a gasoline truck in
Indiana last year and two were
badly scarred in a similar acci-
dent in Michigan several years
ago.” '
