Generally, Junior colleges give
this kind of education:
1. A general course: the first
tw.o years of the traditional col-
lege courses. .
2. Special business courses.
These prepare a student for some
special kind ol work, like secre-
tarial work, welding, drafting,
mining, printing.

' “The success of the Army Air Forces program for the
air defense of America not only depends on the mainten-
ance of a strong Regular Air Force, supported by a strong
Air National Guard and a~fctr$ng Air Reserve, it depends
on making America air-minded. i .
“As citizens we must think of air distances, air relat-
ionships.,air power. As’a nation we-rnust lift our thoughts
from surftlce thinking and let them soar into the skies.
•- “Various organizations"^ serving to make America
air-minded" One of the most important is the Civil Air
Patrol, which made a brilliant record while supporting
the Army Air Forces during World War II . . .
•“The Civil Air Patrol, now an independent civilian-
sponsored educational organization, has a future of peace-
time contributions which will rival Its war record in its
importance to the well being of each state- and the nation.
State assistance and encouragement is iportant to the
growth of this splendid organization.”
Thus is stated, briefly and powerfully, in a bulletin
published by Headquarters Army Air Forces and entitled
“Minutemen of the Air” the background, war record," fu-
ture prospects and greatest need of CAP.
One of the proudest records in the nation has been
made by the Orange CAP unit and its officers and per-
sonnel are to be commended for what they have done
and what they plan for the future. All of the men con-
nected with the organization know that if another war
comes, it will^ be fought largely in the space above the
earth—and won or lost there. «
In appealing for “state assistance and encourage-
ment”, the Army Air Forces, by inference, also were
asking for purely local assistance and encouragement.
The CAP unit here has asked for little. But perhaps It
has needed *or in the future may need more. Orange
should find out what its needs are and, if possible, sup-
ply them. It will be mighty good insurance. ,
