John Fred Scaggis died at his home
in Abilene of tuberculosis of the
brain at two fifteen a. m. Tuesday.
July 28th, The body accompanied by
his wife arrived in Dublin Wednes-
day morning and was taken to the
home of bis aunt, Mrs. C. E. Kunkler,
in north Dublin. Funeral servloes
were held at the New Dublin Ceme-
tery at two thirty Wednesday after-
noon, Rev. Lee Gilbreath of the Bap-
tist church officiating.
Mr. Scagge was born In Benton
county, Arkansas, more than thirty-
five years ago. When quite a small

The Interesting meeting conducted
by Mr. Cook of the Church of Christ
closed last Monday night. Many ad-
ditions were made to the church and
the splendid gospel sermons deliver-
ed by this wonderful speaker were
appreciated by all who heard him.
The song service conducted by Mr.
Calvin Moss was an outstanding
feature of the meeting.
Bernard Stewart, the eleven year
old son of Mrs. Dicken of West Dub-
lin had the misfortune to have his
arm broken Saturday afternoon while
attempting to crank a car.
Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Carruth and
Mis* Nora Alford of Snider a niece
of Mrs. Carruth returned Wednesday
from a trip to the Rio Grande valley
while away they visited a brother of
Mr. Carruth at Welaseo also Mata
Moras Mexico.

After a protracted Jttfcess of ty-
phoid fever and pneumonia. W. G.
McGaugbey died Monday at the home
of his parents. Mr. and Mr8.,Sam Mc-
Gaughey of near Spur, his remains
being Interred Tuesday afternoon.
July 23 in the Spur cemetery, the
funeral services being beld at the
Methodist church and conducted by
Rev. L. E. McClellan.
W. O. McGaugbey was twenty-six
years of age, a young man of high
honor and Integrity. For some time
he had been employed with Ira Sulli-
van in the Spur Tailoring business,
being with R F Huie at the time
of his Illness. Young McGaugbey had
bright and promising future, and
his sterling manhood and qualifica-
tions gave promise of becoming a use
ful citisen. It is regrettable to t&e
entire community when death comas
to one almost In the beginning af
manhood's estate, and the Texaa Spur
Joins friends in sympathy and
dolence to the family in this bereave-
ment
Mr. McGaughey was at one time a
resident of Dublin and hand many
friends here who regret to learn of
his untimely death.
