Whits,
It is only natural when this
time of the year rolls around for
ua to think of that great man,
Abraham Lincoln. We think of
Linooln as a poor boy who bo-
cams president but there is s lot
more to his life than Just that
Abraham Lincoln waa the son
of a failure, he failed at storekeep-
ing. tailed as village postmaster,
tailed at surveying and failed at
•oldiering. He waa defeated for
state legislature, failed to pass
his bills during his only term In
Congress, failed to win renomina-
tion and was defeated for sena-
tor. Tet he became president of
the United States.
If AJwahMi Lincoln could keep
trying after all this, surely we
can at least try to give our best
attention and a little more time
to our school work Lincoln was
always prepared, so let ua live up
to the mottos {. "Be Prepared” and
"If at first you don’t succeed, try
again.” B. D.

Valentine
Although the high school stu-
dents have outgrown the days
of Valentine boxes, the exchange/
of valentines still held the spot-
light for many students Tuesday.
The greater part of them ex-
changes were made in the fresh-
man clsmas. It was Interesting
however, to notice the smiles on
the faces of the seniors when they
opened an envelope to see who
waa saying, "I love you.”
The teachers didn't look dis-
pleased when, some boy or girl
brought a valentine that said,
“The nicest thing about school
is You. Be my Valentine. PR.
