Story Hour
Story Hour for parents and their children
will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, April
16, 2009, at the County-City Library. Dee
Ann Mulanax will lead the parents and
children in stories and songs. Call 235-

SMS Choir
The Sweetwater Middle School Choir will
be competing in the MS UIL Concert/Sight
Reading Contest at the Abilene Civic
Center.
Friday, April 17
Book Sale
The annual County-City Library book
sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday, April 17, at the Nolan County
Coliseum Annex. Special for Friday will be
buy two books ana get one free plus free
admission. The book sale will continue
from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18.
There will be a brown bag special plus free
admission. Several books will be available
including fiction/non-fiction books, paper-
back books, children's books, encyclopedia
sets, religious books, magazines, cook
books and special collector's items.
Kiwanis Pancake Supper
The Kiwanis Club of Sweetwater will have
their annual pancake supper from 5-7:30
p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at JavaJax cof-
fee bar, located at 325 Oak Street in down-
town Sweetwater. The price will be $7 for
adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
Carry-out orders will be available.
Saturday, April 18
Youth Fundraiser
A garage sale and brisket fundraiser will
be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday,
April 18, 2009, at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Catholic Church, located at the cor-
ner of Sam Houston and Alabama Streets.
Brisket sandwiches will be $3.50 each. A
combo, including the sandwich, chips and
drink will be available for $5. Brisket by the
pound will be sold for $7. The fundraiser
will benefit the church's youth group.
SCS Benefit
Sweetwater Christian School, a non-prof-
it school, will be having a brisket sandwich
fundraiser at Wal-Mart beginning at 10
a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Sweetwater Men's Slowpitch
Sweetwater Men's Slowpitch Softball
Association will be having an open season
tournament on Saturday, April 18.

Benefit Lunch
A Mexican pile-on lunch will be held
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 19,
2009, at First United Methodist Church to
benefit the American Cancer Society’s
Relay for Life. Donations will be taken for
the meal. There will also be a dessert auc-
tion, item auction and raffle.
Roscoe FFA
Friends of Roscoe FFA will have a ham-
burger meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday,
April 19, 1009, at the Roscoe High School
cafetorium.
Rattlesnake Speedway
Rattlesnake Speedway will have a race at
3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009. Pits open at
1 p.m. and hot laps begin at 2 p.m. There
will be power wheel races for kids. Pit pass-
es are $13. There is no charge for specta-

Book Review Club
Book Review Club will meet for their last
meeting of the club year on Thursday, April
23, in the community room of the County-
City Library. Reviewer for the day will be
Sandra Spears, reviewing "Iris and Ruby,"
by Rosie Thomas, who is an English author.
Past presidents of the Book Review Club
will be honored at the meeting. Those who
are past presidents will need to give Margie
Smith a call at 235-3215 and let her know
they will be attending the meeting.

Margaret Johnson. Betty Bryant and Linda
Graham.
Broadway Baptist Church
Broadway Baptist Church will have a free
nationwide internet live broadcast called:
"A Town Hall For Hope Meeting" with New
York Times best selling author Dave
Ramsey on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. The church will
play this live broadcast in the church audi-
torium. He will be speaking on "The
Economy, Your Money, Real Answers." It
will be an interactive program, so those

Kindergarten Registration
Students who are enrolling into
Kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year
may come by East Ridge Elementary or
Southeast Elementary anytime between the
hours of 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. from now
until Friday May 1, to register. The child’s
parent or legal guardian should bring a
birth certificate, social security card, up-to-
date immunization record and proof of resi-
dency (utility bill, rental agreement, or
other official document) with them to the
school at the time of registration. They can
call East Ridee at 235-5282 or Southeast at
235-9222 witn questions or for more infor-
mation.
CDO Registration
The First United Methodist Church
Children's Day Out is registering children
for the 2009-2010 school year. Children's
Day Out is open to children between the
ages of 1-5. CDO offers classes on Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and
extended care is available from 7:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. CDO does follow the SISD calen-
dar and classes will begin Aug. 25, 2009.
This will be CDO's ninth year of providing a
Christian-based education for the children
of Sweetwater and the surrounding area.

Weight Loss Challenge
A 12-week weight loss challenge that
advises proper nutrition, food choices and
encourages exercise is available in the area.
Earn up to $600 for losing your pounds and
