Dr. Donna Clevinger. a member of
NT’s dance and drama faculty, is di-
recting “Harvey," a comedy written
by Mary Chase, which is being per-
formed at the Dallas Repertory Theatre.
150 North Park, through Dec. 13.
“Harvey” will be performed at 8:15
p.m. each Wednesday through Friday
and at 4 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m. each
Saturday, as well as at 2:30 p.m. each
Sunday. Tickets are available through
the theater’s box office by calling (214)
369-8966. Student discounts are avail-
able.
“The play is about Elwood P. Dowd
and his invisible 6-foot rabbit,” Clev-
inger said. “It is a well known play
and a lot of fun to put on.”
There are several NT drama students
participating in the production of the
play. “It is a very positive experience
for the students,” she said.
Kristin Hassett, Denton senior, is the
light board operator and Robert Allen
Ross, Plano senior, is a member of the
running crew. Preston Bircher, former
NT student, is the master electrician and
Pat Dwyer, former NT student, is the
assistant director.
Chase wrote 18 versions of “Har-
vey” before completing it two years
after she had begun. Clevinger said.
Chase also ran into trouble with the
play when it was about to open. Chase
had an 8-foot rubber rabbit made es-
pecially for the play and she was not
sure what to do with it. After she saw
the rabbitt crossing the stage at the dress
rehearsal she decided to do away with
it and make the rabbit invisible, Clev-
inger said.
Clevinger has directed several pro-
ductions at NT including “The Ele-
phant Man,” “Othello,” “A Mid-
summer Night's Dream" and “Child-
ren of A Lesser God.” The latter play
was selected as an entry in the regional
festival of the American College Theatre

Baltimore, Md . but she had different goals than most students
there.
"Most people think that with a master of music degree
that you want to play in a symphony, (but) ... that has
never been my goal,” FonTSaid. ”1 am doing it (getting
the degree) so 1 will know more about music; I want a
good education.”
Ford said she has “high hopes” for her music career,
“but you must have a dream to get anywhere.
“1 know it is going to take time to become really good.
The only thing holding me back is experience,” she said.
“Once 1 have that, I’ll get there.”
Ford, who says she wants to be an inspiration to students,
said, “Maybe some students have the same dream, and I
want to inspire them with my music.”
