Starlings Becoming
Nuisance In City
LUBBOCK.—Slaughter ol the
thousands of starlings which have
been roosting on buildings was
started here this week by members
of the police department.
Using .410 gauge shotguns. Al-
fred Parraek of the fire department
and Sid Caraway of the police de-
partment shot repeatedly at the
birds.
W. E. Lyle, whose hobby is birds,
said that about 47 years ago 12
starlings were introduced in north-
ern United States and that, after
rapidly multiplying, their first ap-
pearance in Texas was in 1932.
