Governor Hughes of New
York failed to get a nomination
to run as the republican candidate
for president but he was nornina
ted last week for re-election as
governor.
The man in the shuffle is the
man who is always hustling. Hus
tie, rain or shine, and if lost in the
shuffle, ’twill be because you are
out in the lead and so far ahead
you cannot be seen.
The United States circuit court
of appeals knocked the South
Carolina dispensary law out on
thtj ground that the liquor traffic
is a private business and a state
cannot conduct such traffic.
Give the pigs the chance and
they will turn more waste on the
farm into profit than any other
animal, and along with added
rations of good, rich food they will
turn it quicker and faster than
a’most any of the farm animals.
It would seem that the United
States courts don’t intend for the
states to have very much to say in
the matter of controlling the whis-
ky traffic, yet the United States
have the power to tack on heavy
revenue or turn the business scott
free when there is nothing coming
to Uncle Sam.

Let it be a rule of the farm that
nothing shall go to waste. Pro-
vide a way by which everything is
used to the best advantage, and
there will be no trouble about
keeping the bank account grow-
ing, or in any line of life the little
wastes should be looked after, for
laving is making or gaining.
The goverment estimates that
it costs $2.80 per ton to market
products over a dirt road. The
Texas farmer hauls to market 11’
960.000 tons of products and re-
turns to the farm with 3,000,000
tons, making a total of 14,960,000
tons hauled, hence it is easy to see
the need of good roads in Texas
and factories near by where the
raw materials are produced.
Has to Be Ci^ed.
“Possibly there is something on
Earth that is a surer and quicker
cure for cuts’ burns, aches, pains
and bruises than Hunt’s Lightning
Oil. If so, would like to be cited.
For twenty years I have been
unable to find anything better my-
self.’’ H. H. Ward,

New Way of Dunning.
Here is the way an exchange J
duns its subscribers: ‘ If you I
have frequent fainting spells, ac-
companied by chills, cramps, corns,
bunions, chillblains, epilepsy and
Jaundice, it is a sign you are not
well, but liable to die at any min-
ute. Pay your subscription in ad
vanee and thus make yourself sol-
id for a good obituary notice.”—
Bangs Enterprise, #
This suggestion may appeal to
some, but it will drain off the chron
ic delinquent susberiber like water
off the upper deck of a dn« k. The
man who never pays for his paper
doesn’t care anything about his
obituary notice. He will be where
no good newspaper ever goes,
not even for kindling.—Dallas
News.
The man who pays not his sub-
scription, or gets way behind or-
dinarily thinks very little of the
results now or in the future.
It Does It.
The remedy that cured your
mother and your father of Chills
