Eastham & Tarver’s No. 1 Viola
Wilson in Medina County, 12 miles
south and a little east of Hondo, the
county seat, with the exception ot
a shut down of a day early in the
week to change valves on the pump
that have been cut out by the sand,
has been pumping steadily for nearly
two weeks and is holding up at a
little les3 than initial production of
pipeline oil free from all water. It
i» the biggest well in Medina Coun-
ty and is producing from a depth of
966 feet.
Wtih the oil interests long divided
more sharply in opinion as to the
possibility of oil production in Me-
dina than in any other county, the
skeptical element is still taking the
attitude of the farmer who saw the
hippopotamus for the first time and
brazenly denied its existence, but
the scouts are scouting it as a 50-
barrel well. Wells drilled to the
North of it did not find as much
sand. It looks as though the field
lay to the south and west, since the
wells to the north were all smaller.
Attention and interest in Medina
County is benig stimulated by the
well and deals are now being closed
that will mean considerable drilling
ot new tests within the next few
weeks. A pipeline will be built prob-
ably to Devine on the International-
Great Northern as soon as more
in duction is developed.
