LETTERS FROM OUR BOYS IN
THE SERVICE
(Continued from first age)
found enj >yrrient in pastime, wi rk
and friendships in Flngland, by the
following poem sent home you can
tell where his heart is:
MY HEART
There’s sunshine here and rain and
snow
And skies of deepest blue
There are flowers here of every kind
And frosts and fogs and dew.
F’rom which the stars do not depart
May not be turned aside to stay
The bullet flying to my heart.
I ask no help to strike my foe,
I seek no petty victory here,
The enemy I hate, I know,
To Thee is also dear.
But this I pray, be at my side
When death is drawing through the
sky. **
Almighty God who also died
Teach me the way that I should die.
There ar* cottages and palaces
Which England’s famous for
There a " mountains here and rivers
There are lakes and tree* galore.
Some cities here are famous
Some buildings huge and old
And each with a story
And so proudly each is told.
Yes, England has so many things
1 see them as I roam.
But England doesn’t have my heart
It’s there with you at home.
ISo, keep my heart, don’t break it,
It’s filled with love so strong.
Some day I’m coming bark to y< u
And I i,ope it won’* be long.

from good old America, we just
think of what we are going to do to
the Germans. Here is my daytime
dream and part of nighttime;
IT TAKES COURAGE
To be the parents of promising
American Soldier,
The pride and hope of his mother,
dad, and beloving ones,
To sacrifice him with a brave fare-

To suffer the pangs of a warring hell
It takes Courage.

To leave the home he loves so well,
To face the enemy in buttle shot and
shell.
With bullets flying around his head,
It takes Courage.
To answer the call of one of your
friends who died in battle,
To jump from a plane with n para-

With creeping chills as the cannon

And the enemy awaits him on the

These descendants love to set
aside a day to commemorate the s e

the heritage secured for them. It
was on the 20th of fune when ihe

people.

Then followed a recess for re-
