Wear several shawls at
once. It’s a cool weather
layering trick, says Becky
Culp, area clothing specialist
with the Texas Agricultural
Extension Service, the Te-
jcas A&M University Sys-
tem.
She suggests a small one
tied at the neck, a long
oblong under the collar
hanging loose, and a large
square or triangle draped
around the shoulder.

Volunteers
Honor Tom
Wood
The Senior Volunteers
treated Tom Wood to a
party on Friday at the home
of Margie Hood. Tom just
retired as telephone opera-
tor from Bellaire General
Hospital where she has been
employed for over 13 years.
Because Tom took care of
the volunteers in the ab-
sence of their director, she
became sort of an honorary
member.
Mrs. Wood always has
worked as a telephone oper-
ator, but took time off to be
a full-time mother to two
sons. She now has six
granddaughters to enjoy in
her retirement.
Tom and her husband plan
to move to their home in
Oakridge Subdivision, eight
miles east of Trinity on Lake
Livingston, where she will
enjoy sewing and gardening.
Tom was presented with a
rose bush to add to her
garden and a nursery gift
certificate. The volunteers
gave her a gold double-chain
bracelet.
Mrs. Wood will be missed
by all at Bellaire General.
