Prudential holds groundbreaking

Groundbreaking
were held last week for
Prudential Insurance’s new
southwestern home office
building in Bellaire.
The estimated construc-
tion cost is $23 million for
the building which will
occupy a 13.4 acre tract on
the southwest corner of the
West Loop-Bissonnet inter-
section. The building is
expected to be completed in
the summer of 1977.
Bellaire city officials,
Prudential executives and
employees, and officers from
the architectural firm of S. I.
Morris Associates and the
construction firm of H.A.
Lott, Inc. took part in the
brief ceremonies.
“We want to make you as
proud of us as your Bellaire
neighbor, as we are to be a

bors together in the dynamic
Greater Houston metropoli-
tan community,” Pruden-
tials Senior Vice President
Richard G. Merrill told
Bellaire Mayor Joe Poin-

“We are very proud of the
distinctive design of the
building, which we think will
be pleasing to the eyes of
Bellaire citizens, as well as
to those who travel the
freeway,” he added.
The five-story office buil-
ding will measure 665 feet,
and is designed to preserve
open spaces and greenery.
The second structure of the
two-part project, a parking
garage, will be almost
