Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schlech,
10915 Atwell, entertained at their
home with a buffet supper party
honoring their son, Barry A.
Schleck, who just received a PhD.
degree in micro-biology from the
University of Texas.
Among the 30 guests were
Barry’s wife, Frances, and his
two grandmothers, Mrs. Alice
Perrine of Houston and Mrs. Lil-
lian Schleck from Jersey City,
N.J. Other out-of-town guests
were Dr. Peter Jurtshuk, who
was Barry’s major professor at
UT; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Levens
of Huntsville; Dr. John Busweil,
Lafayette, La.; Dr. Cecilio Bar-
rera and Robert Wetegrove, both
from Austin.
Dr. Jertshuk recently trans-
ferred to the Biology Department
of the University of Houston.

Biff Enoch, 11, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert W. Enoch, 5447
Queensloch, is a budding thes-
pian. He appeared in the Opera,
“Ballad of Baby Doe,” at Jones
Hall recently. He is a student
at the Alley Theatre Merry-Go-
Round School. Congratulations,
Biff.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hardes-
ty, 5478 West Bellfort, entertain-
ed with a dinner party at the
Colony Club in Westbury Square
honoring Mr. and Mrs. Don Mil-
ler, 8315 Braesdale, who were
transferred to Louisville, Ky.,
by his company, General Elec-
tric.
Among the guests were Mr. and
Mrs. Hank Anawaty, 8319 Braes-
dale, the Millers’ next door
neighbors, and Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Williams, 6019 Cer-
ritos.

Mrs. Bertram H. (Evelyn)
Mann, 4937 Hazelton, served as
one of the judges of the Uptown
Toastmistress Club’s annual
speech contest. She is a mem-
ber of the Greater Houston Toast-
masters Club and also served
as chairman of the tellers com-
mittee for the contest.
Mrs. Harold Landry, 4803 Ben-
ning Drive, member of the Hous-
ton Toastmistress Club and
chairman of Council 6, served as
one of the timers.

Congratulations to Curtis Far-
mer, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs.
James R. Farmer, 5535 Spell-
man, who represented Westbury
High School as February student
guest of Rotary at meetings of the
Bellaire Rotary Club.
He was the sophomore repre-
sentative last year and is now
secretary of Interact, Rotary-
sponsored service club for high
school youths, and is chairman of
the District 589 Interact meeting.
Curtis plays baritone horn and
trombone in the Westbury Stage
Band and in the Houston All-City
Band, and he qualified for All-
District Band honors. He also
studies jazz piano and plans to
attend a college where he can
major in jazz.
He is a member of the West-
bury Student Senate, chairman of
the parking committee and li-
brarian of the band. He has earn-
ed a DAR award as outstanding
history student and has four me-
dals for solo contests on baritone
horn.
An all-around boy, Curtis is a
member of Westbury Baptist
Church and plays basketball on
the church team.
He is the oldest of four chil-
dren. . .having two sisters, ages
15 and 12, a younger brother, age
4. Karen paints and is active
in church work. Mala is in 6th
grade at Parker Elementary
School. Their father is an ac-
countant for Gordon Jewelers.

of Mr. and Mrs. J. Allen White-

bachelors degree in business ad-
ministration from North Texas
State University.

Knight, husband of the former
Jeanne M. Geers, 4057 Nenana,
and son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
K. Knight, 5854 Braesheather, is
serving at Marine Corps Base,
Twenty-nine Palms, California.
Ramon T. Autrey Jr., son of
the senior Autreys, 5642 Carta-
gena, was graduated from the
Famous Artist School of West-
port, Conn. He specialized in
commercial art and illustration.
