Kolfer finishes
screening, testing
of 1st,2nd graders
Testing and screening of first
and second grade students at
Kolter School has been complet-
ed. Kindergarten children will
be tested in October and will
attend the mini gym in Novem-
ber. Thirty first and secondgra-
ders will begin attending the mini
gym twice a week during the week
of Oct. 16 for help with gross
motor development, fine motor
development and visual precep-
tual problems.
Twelve volunteer mothers
from Kolter are assisting with
the program and additional vol-
unteers are needed.
Bellaire
Saw Shop
The Bellaire Saw Shop has a new location at 6211
Bellaire Blvd. next to Overly’s Rentals. Joe Adams
owner, specializes in sharpening hand saws chain
saws and circle saws. He also can give a razor’s
edge to scissors, pinking sheers, knives, hedge
trimmers, grass sheers, mower blades and all
types of garden and hand tools in the blink of an
eye and of course his work is guaranteed.
Shirley Dooling to
head UST nursing
Miss Shirley Dooling, dean of
the new School of Nursing at the
University of St. Thomas was for-
merly assistant dean of the Und-
ergraduate Program at the Uni-
versity of Oklahoma College of
Nursing. She will receive her Ph
D from Columbia University in
New York this fall. She holds the
ES in Nursing from the Univer-
sity of Washington and a masters
in Medical Surgical Nursing from
University of Colorado. The nev
school at St. Thomas began itf
first year this fall with 86 stu-
dents, 11 of them men. Miss Doo-
Img’s particular field is cardio-
vascular nursing. Currently due
from publisher McGraw Hill is
her book titled "Operation Room
Techniques." A reception at St.
Thomas will honor Miss Dooling
Ocl. 18 and introduce her to many
in the community.
