Wanda Jackson
The Richmond Plaza Baptist
Church at 7115 Map 1 e r idge will
feature singer Wanda Jackson in a
special concert on Sunday even-
ing, Oct. 22 at 7:15 p.m. Miss
Jackson began her singing career
before she finished high school
and has appeared on the nightclub
circuit from Japan to Las Vegas
and has made several TVappear-
ances. Since 1971 she aridherbijs-
band have d e v o t e d their talents
and time to the evangelical move-
ment barnstorming churches a-
round the nation.
Miss Claudia Asbury, Dancer,
teacher, and choreographer, will
conduct a special tap workshop at
the Asbury School of Dancing,
2819 Hillcroft, Friday, Oct. 27,
4:45 to 6:15 p.m.; Saturday, Oct.
28, 4:30 to 6 and from 7:30 to
9 p.m. Miss Asbury will give this
special session for intermediate
and advanced students in Hous-
ton and the surrounding areas be-
tween Her tqiir with Judy Came
in ‘‘Cabaret” and her opening in
"Funny Girl” at the newChateau
DiVille Dinner Theater in Bos-
ton, Mass.

teen,"and “Brigadoon." She al-
so choreographed ballets entitled
"Godspell” and "Boots ’n Bon-
nets” for Metropolitan Ballet
Concert Group.
Miss Asbury’s professional
credits include the role of Grand-
ma Tzietle, in “Fiddler on the
Roof” with Leonard Nemoy, and
the role of Fromah Sarah with
Jan Peerce in “Fiddler on the
Roof," lead dancer and under-
study for the role of Claudine in
“Cann Cann with Ann Miller”, the
role of Kim in "Showboat” with
Andy Devine, “Two Ladies” with
Judy Carne in “Cabaret” and the
show "Marne” with Edie Adams.
Besides teaching routines and
techniques she will give the stu-
' dents first hand information on
"auditions today,” whatsexpect-
ed of dancers, how to find the
auditions, who to study with in
New York.
