of the Dallas Child
Welfare Department, was
the guest speaker at the.
meeting. Miss Couch
explained the precedures
required to become fos-
ter parents. She said
there are several meet-
ings for prospective fos-
ter parents, question-
aires, interviews, home
visits by case workers,
and physicals to be
completed before parents
can be approved as
foster parents.
Miss Couch said there
are approximately 500
children in 200 foster
home in the Dallas area.
She noted that there is
always need for more
foster parents especially
for the teenaged and
retarded children.
Miss Couch encour-
aged interested aprents
to contact the Dallas
Child Welfare Depart-
ment for information on
the foster home program.

For Armstrong
Funeral services for
Rube R. Armstrong of
Midlothian were held
Wednesday at the First
United Methodist Church
in Midlothian with the
Rev. Vernon Whittington
officiating. Burial was
at Rhodes Cemetery,
under the direction of
Coward Funeral Home.
Mr. Armstrong, a life-
long resident of Midlo-
thain and a retired farmer
passed away Monday at
the Veterans Hospital in
Dallas. He had made his
home with Clifton Mas-
sey family for the past
40 years. He was born
December 7, 1897, was
a veteran of World War II
and a member of the
American Legion.
Survivors include one
brother, Henry Armstrong
of Cedar Hill; six sis-
ters, Mrs. Mollie Duncan
of Portersville, Califor-
nia, Mrs. Lizzie Shaw of
Garland, Mrs.. Maggie
Ragland of Lake Whitney
Mrs. Winnie Jones of
Dallas and Mrs. Alice
Jordan of West Colombia;
and a host of neices and
ne phews.

parents and guests at
the April 6 meeting of
the Foster Parents of
Southwest Dallas Co-
unty. The meeting was
held at the Presbyterian
Church Office Building
in DeSoto.

points on dental and
psycological facilities
for foster children as
well as special activi-’
ties for foster parents
and children.

home on leave from the
Army.
He has been stationed
at Fort Ord, California
but will be leaving
around April 24 for
Germany.
His wife, Vickie, will
be remaining in Cedar
Hill while he is serving
