The Naomi and Ruth Circles^

Does sleeping posture effect walk-
ing habits?
I have heard only one lecture
that touched upon the subject. It
was the opinion of this authority
that there has been an increase
of cases of pidgeon toes and splay-
foot (like a duck) since it has be-
come popular to train babies to
sleep on their stomachs. The
speaker pointed out that other
animals that are anatomically
similar to humans sleep on their
sides.
My experience in the shoe store
has been that almost all pidgeon-
ed toed children sleep on their
stomachs with their toes turned
in. Three mothers who retrained
their children to sleep on their
sides have commented on improve-
ment in walking.
It is interesting to note that the
left foot of a right handed child
is more likely to toe-in than the
right foot is.

meal. Grape juice and crackers
were served.
The tables were laid with j
white cloths and centering the
tables were plants of blooming
African violets and tall white
candles. The flowers were furn-
ished by Mrs. Gladys O’Neal.
Following the meal the group
went into the chapel for a very
impressive program in keeping
with the Lenten season. They
were spiritually uplifted by the
songs sung by Mrs. Nancy Cof-
fee and Mrs. Don Vance accom-
panied on the piano by Mrs. Mary
Burcham. Also the readings by
Mrs. Cora Carroll and Mrs. Glo-
ria Shields. As the piano was
played, the group took their of-
fering and laid it on the altar.
The offering will go toward a
Crusade Scholarship.
The business meeting followed
the program.
Attending were Mmes. G. W.
Culbertson, W. L. Potter, Horace
Brooks, R. A. Thompson, Sr.,
