Intenirban power house, told tbe
Gaxxttxee man last Sunday that
they would run the first train be-
ween Denison and Sherman by the
5th. It hardly looks probable and
her attaches of the company think
differently. , The machinery is not
yet all placed in position. There is
it deal yet to do. The first of
month will be nearer, and it is
even doubtful if the line will be
ready to operate at that period.
Coatractor Hammick expects to
finish his contract this week. He
had the brick and wood work. Tbe
work is well done and the building
is imposing and substantial. There
is a network of iron trussing in the
car building which adds to its solid-
ity. The men worked all day Sun-
day putting in the second fly wheel
and arranging wooden piers on
which the track in tbe car bouse
will be laid. There was no ap-
pearance of Sunday out there,
everybody was hard at work.
Lane A Hammock’s contract will
amount to $11,000. The entire
plant, exclusive ot park, fake, etc.,
will be about $40,000. Tbe com-
pany office* will cost about $3,000,
and tbe theater to be erected on
beautiful bill that overlooks the lake
over $5,000 more. The lake is
gradually filling up with water. A
steam launch will be placed at the
disposal of pleasure parties. Tbe
site ot the park is very picturesque
the hills crowned with a noble
growth of forest trees. A more at-
tractive site could not have been se-
lected. The woodland rambles will
be very inviting and it will be a de-
lightful spot for picnic parties, and
when thc,_tb*«ter is built it will
draw Urge crouds from Sherman
and Denison. Plobsbly the time is
not far distant wl^£ beautiful su-
burban homes will cSown tbe sur-
rounding hills. There is no doubt
that a town will spring up around
the Intenirban property. We never
taw more favorable building sites.
Thousands of pleasure seekers will
be glad to escape tbe monotony of
Sunday and spend tbe day in the
woods.
In the course of time we may ex
pect a zoological park and many
other attractions that will draw vis-
itors. The theater will be a good
place to bold conventions, gather
ings, etc.
There is a great future for the
Intenirban; a financial success
already assured. It will make
Denison and Sherman better under-
stood, we shall be more neighborly
and our interests more in common.
