It is just twenty years since the
Pope ordered that the celebrated
Vatican library be opened fot the use
of the scholars of all nations--
Friday, February t, a boy was pre-
sented to Prof. Somerville by bis
wife-----Twenty-five bales of cot-
ton arrived by wagon from Hunt
county on the 1st of February, 1878
--During the year 1877 Dr. T.
N. Cutler, who had a drug store in
Denison, sold $18,984 worth of his
proprietary medicines. He sold
largely through agents_Richard
Haraest and R. Moon were pro-
moted from brakemen to freight
conductors on the ist__This is an

has a stout body and boyish fea-
tures, with a round face and soft

suit, either civil or crimioal, mutt

citixens, in violation of your law,

without procuring permits, whatever
penalty the Choctaw law imposes
upon him would be enforced in my
court And in this connection I
desire to say that I propose to see
that all your laws which still exist,
that is, those which are not in con-
flict with the laws of tbe United
States, are enforced. I propose to
make tbe burden upon tbe
Choctaw people, and to kindly but
firmly enforce those laws of yours
which come before my court. I
have a very high respect and great
sympathy for your people, and you
will find that as far as I am con-
cerned, you will suffer nothing by
