Newly Organized Willow Garden Club Sets
Yule Party For Friday, Names Officers
The newly organized Willow
Garden Club will meet Friday,
November 8, at the home of Mrs.
D. C. Foard of 4720 Willow at
10 a. m., with Mrs. Evan Pancake
serving as co-hostess.
The group membership is com-
prised of residents of the 4700
block of Willow.
Officers are Mrs. Owen Thorn-
ton of 4710 Willow, president;
Mrs. Murray McCoy, vice presi-
dent; Mrs. Foard, second vice
president; Mrs. George Clark, sec-
retary-treasurer and Mrs. Cecil
Johnson, historian.
The program for Friday’s meet-
ing will be on the subject of
Christmas decorations and will be
divided into six types of Yule ar-
rangements.
Topics and speakers will be as
follows: door decorations, Mrs.
Johnson; dining room table, Mrs.
Virgil Shaw; coffee table, Mrs.
Clark; mantel, Mrs. Foard; can-
dles, Mrs. N. R. Wall, and miscel-
laneous, Mrs. James Nevitt.
New Streets Found
In Section
Did you ever hear of Jacquet
Drive? Tamarisk Street? Sunburst
Court? All of them are new streets
in the Southwestern section, locat-
ed in the subdivisions being built
in north-central Bellaire.
Some of the other names: Cir-
cle Drive, Holton, Wedgewood,
Fleetwood, Mayfair, Sheffield,
Colonial and Imperial.
VFW Building Drive
Begins Monday Night
Launching of a fund-raising
drive for a local Veterans of For-
eign Wars building will be the
main business at a meeting of Post
5619 at 8 p. m. Friday in the Bel-
laire Civic Center.
Other important business to
come up for discussion at the meet-
ing will be the post’s Christmas
activities, including a party at the
Veterans Administration Hospital,
it was announced by Commander
M. C. Bozarth.
